Launched in 2023, AEEF’s endowed scholarship program has rapidly expanded, now awarding 30 annual scholarships to outstanding students pursuing careers in science, engineering, business, and more. Through our Cycle of Support, we go beyond scholarships by providing mentorship, career counseling, and continuing education,ensuring students receive holistic support for long-term success.

The following endowed scholarships are awarded annually on a merit-cum-means basis to deserving students, in accordance with the benefactor's wishes. While the benefactor may suggest general criteria such as academic discipline and level of study, recipients are selected through a thorough application and interview process. Scholarships are granted for one year, with the potential for renewal based on academic performance and demonstrated financial need.
Scholarship for one student: US $ 350-450/year
In 2024, Waseem Uddin, an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), and his wife, Almas Uddin, established the Abdul Karim and Shabana Karadkar Endowed Scholarship to honor Almas’s parents and their lifelong dedication to education.
This annual Merit-cum-Means Scholarship supports exceptional AMU student/s who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. Through a rigorous and transparent selection process, the scholarship empowers deserving student/s and ensures that financial barriers do not hinder their pursuit of academic and professional success.
Building upon their generous commitment, in 2025 Waseem and Almas further strengthened this initiative by adding two more endowed scholarships to the program, expanding its reach and impact within the AMU community.
Their continued philanthropy reflects a deep commitment to nurturing talent, promoting educational equity, and giving back to the AMU community in a meaningful and sustainable way.
Abdus Salam Qureishi, a distinguished alumnus and
former
faculty member of AMU, was an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and a
highly
respected member of the Bay Area community. He passed away in 2022
in
Palo Alto, California.
Since its inception, he served as the Patron of the AMU Alumni Association of Northern California. His unwavering support, especially during the association’s formative years, greatly strengthened its foundation and broadened its activities.
In 2025, the AMU Alumni Association is honoring his legacy of philanthropy and community service by establishing an endowed scholarship in his memory. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving student at AMU or elsewhere in India, ensuring that his lifelong dedication to education, philanthropy, and societal development continues to inspire and guide future generations.

In 2023, Muneeb and Hani Khan established three endowed scholarships to be awarded annually to deserving students based on merit and financial need at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and other institutions across India.
These scholarships were created in memory of their grandparents and aunt, celebrating AMU's esteemed legacy of education and character development, as well as acknowledging the significant impact the university has had on the Khan family.
The KBK Merit-cum-Means Scholarships are specifically designed to support students who exhibit both academic excellence and financial need.

Nihal Khan, a distinguished alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University
(BSc
Engineering, Class of 1970) and a long-time resident of the San
Francisco Bay Area, was a dedicated leader and former president and
trustee of the AMU Alumni Association of Northern California. After
his
passing in 2022, his friends sought to honor his legacy of community
service by establishing three endowed scholarships in his memory in
2023. These scholarships are awarded annually to deserving
engineering
students at AMU, ensuring that his passion for education and
community
upliftment continues to inspire future generations.
The Noor Ali Mohammad Family has generously established three endowed scholarships in 2024 through the Aligarh Education Endowment Fund (AEEF) to support students in India at various academic levels or vocational training programs. These Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships are intended for students who demonstrate both outstanding academic performance and financial need.
These scholarships embody the Noor family's commitment to advancing educational opportunities and enabling talented individuals to reach their academic and professional goals, irrespective of financial barriers.
Prof. Tariq Rizvi began his academic journey at
Aligarh
Muslim University (AMU) and earned his Ph.D. from McMaster
University,
Canada. A distinguished mathematician and professor at Ohio State
University, Lima, he was celebrated for his groundbreaking research
in
the theory of rings and modules, earning the Outstanding Scholar
Award
and a Fulbright Fellowship.
Deeply connected to AMU, Prof. Rizvi championed academic collaboration, organized conferences, and fostered international scholarly networks. He passed away in 2023, and in 2025, his family established three endowed scholarships in his memory, awarded annually to deserving students at AMU or elsewhere in India—ensuring his dedication to educational excellence and advancing the research community continues to guide and inspire future generations.

empowering
women through education, and giving back to the community.
Born in 1940 in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, Razia Zaidi is an educator, a devoted mother, and a passionate advocate for female education. She pursued higher studies at Aligarh Muslim University, earning a B.Sc. (1959) and an M.Sc. in Geography (1961)—both with outstanding distinction, including a Gold Medal for academic excellence. Through this scholarship, her legacy of educational empowerment lives on, inspiring future generations of women to excel and lead in the field of engineering.
The Shaheen Moin Memorial Scholarships, established in 2026, were created by Mohib Ahmad (Alig) in loving memory of his beloved mother, Shaheen Moin, a woman whose life embodied resilience, determination, and the transformative power of education.
Married as a teenager in a village in India with limited access to formal schooling, she refused to accept the limitations placed before her. Through distance learning and an unwavering commitment to self-improvement, she pursued her education with courage and perseverance. More importantly, she instilled in her children a deep and lasting love for learning — teaching them that education is the most powerful catalyst for change.
For her, education was not just a personal achievement; it was a legacy. She believed that when you educate a girl, you empower generations.
Established in 2026 as a lasting tribute to her vision and values, the Shaheen Moin Memorial Scholarships are dedicated to supporting deserving girls in India, helping them overcome financial barriers and pursue their academic dreams with confidence and dignity. Through this endowment, her legacy continues to open doors of opportunity and shaping brighter futures for generations to come.

Suhail Farrukh, a respected alumnus of Aligarh
Muslim
University (B.Sc. Civil Engineering, 1977) and a long-time resident
of
the San Francisco Bay Area, served with great dedication as
president,
treasurer, and trustee of the AMU Alumni Association of Northern
California. He passed away in Pennsylvania in 2024. To honor his
legacy
of service, the Association has established an endowed scholarship
in
his memory in 2025. This annual scholarship will support deserving
students at AMU or elsewhere in India, ensuring that his commitment
to
education and community upliftment continues to inspire future
generations.
